Bento

One of the few sushi places in Cagliari that ISN'T all-you-eat (which means a bit higher quality of seafood, and bit more expensive). Tiny place (only 5 spots on a narrow counter,) most customers order to take-out. Having lived in Japan, I can tell you this sushi is as good as you're going to find in Cagliari. NOT real wasabi, but then that's hard to find even in Los Angeles. Staff is not Japanese but the owner is. Located not far from the city center, just off Piazza Republica. But check the hours, closed Sunday and Monday, and (oddly) from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.

I understand it's a fantastic place for sushi lovers, but I personally don't like to eat vegetables out of season (for example tomatoes and cucumbers in winter) and, most importantly, I would not recommend it to vegetarians, as the veg rolls taste like fish (they do not wash their hands to prepare vegetarian food after having touched fish) and the choice is extremely limited.

Extremely small place but with a pleasant impact, a few tables of 5 or 6 at most, service implemented to the essentials, recyclable plates and cutlery...but with Japanese food of excellent quality and great freshness. Excellent quality of raw materials and condiments that reflect the Japan style in every way. Goodness highlighted by spectacular tuna and salmon tartare cut with a knife, fabulous vegetable and prawn ravioli cooked on the grill, exquisite gunkan and nigiri with a truly pleasant sight, and unique goodness and freshness, ...without taking anything away from the absolutely excellent sashimi quality with medium cut (and certainly not very fine and impalpable like most other Japanese restaurants in the city) which made you feel the goodness of the cut of the fish. Excellent choice of Japanese beers, with also a choice of special local and foreign beers. Extreme cleanliness and visible workmanship of the product. Friendliness and smiles that are never banal. Bento, in my opinion, is one of the best sushi bars in Cagliari. Medium/high prices, in line with the products and condiments offered. Absolutely worth visiting if you want to have a classic sushi experience, but not all you can't heat.
